Year End

November 26, 2012 – 6:21 pm

The weeks between Thanksgiving and the end of the year have been very consistently positive for the stock market. It is not always true as we saw in 2008 when the market was falling hard as we entered a recession. However, history over this period has demonstrated a strength in stock prices that is hard to dismiss.

This year it may be up to the politicians as the fiscal cliff seems to dominate everyone’s thinking. If they continue to hint at a resolution or in fact announce one the pressure for the market to rally will be great. If not we may not have further weakness but the market will be subject to every rumor out of Washington.

This is a situation in which you buy good solid companies at bargain prices and be patient. It is not a time to be out of the market.
